Jon has been Montague’s Parks & Recreation Director since October of 2001. Prior to working in Montague; he worked in various settings in the recreation industry, most recently at the recreation department’s in Barre, Vermont and Mansfield, Massachusetts. Jon graduated with a BS Degree in Recreation Resource Management from UMASS/Amherst in 1994, and received an Associates Degree in Recreation & Leisure Services from Greenfield Community College. Jon is a Certified Parks & Recreation Professional, and since returning to Montague, has obtained a certification in pool operation and basic lifeguarding. He currently oversees approximately thirty programs throughout the year, including the Bluefish Swim Team. In his spare time, Jon is often seen out and about with his wife Kelli, and daughters Kasia and Kyleigh (shown here in 2007).
Sarah Smith has coached the Montague Bluefish swim team for 4 years. Prior to that Sarah had been working with the Montague Parks and Recreation Department in differing roles since 2002. Sarah began swimming on the Montague Bluefish in 1992 at 6 years old. Currently Sarah coaches the Bluefish winter and summer programs, teaches swim lessons, as well as lifeguards. Sarah is also going to school at Mount Holyoke College for Math.
